Congratulations Get it Back Challengers!
Before announcing our 2 winners, the staff would like to say how proud we are of all the challengers and their consistency and dedication throughout the contest.
Both winners stayed consistent with their workouts by keeping on pace and making up missed workouts. They put forth the extra effort to do their calorie burning workouts and tried their best to control their caloric intake during the holidays (they ate and drank some goodies, just not the whole bag or bottle!) Out of 54 challengers, 50 of you made it through the biggest weight gain period of the entire year...the HOLIDAYS.
The results were phenomenal, with a total of 119 lbs. loss in scale weight (which is great considering not everyone was out to lose weight, but to gain muscle mass!) And... it was no coincidence that the people who were able to be consistent where highly SUCCESSFUL!
So, with that in mind, our challengers collectively lost 209 lbs. of fat and gained 163 lbs. of lean muscle tissue! Challengers collectively lost 108.7% body fat. The average challenger lost 2.5% body fat (4.87 lb.), and gained 2.4% lean muscle mass (3.7 lbs.).
Participants were divided into 2 challenge groups: Group 1: Men greater than 25% and Women greater than 32%.
Group 2: Men less than 24.9% and Women less than 31.9%
Results were analyzed by comparing the ratio of individual change so that data would be compared fairly.
With that said, congratulations to JENNIFER ROESCH (Group 1) and KATE HUTMACHER (Group 2).
Jennifer lost 5.1% body fat, gained 1 lb. of lean muscle tissue, lost 11 lbs of fat mass, and lost 8 lbs. in scale weight. Great job, Jennifer!
Kate lost 5.3% body fat, gained 1 lb. lean muscle tissue, lost 10 lbs. of fat mass, and lost 9 lbs. in scale weight. Excellent job, Kate!
Sooo...the Grand Champion is
KATE HUTMACHER
With a 26.5% change in her body composition (that's over a quarter of her body!) NICE!
As you all know (because your exercise science coaches have preached it so much), the key to a successful body, whether wanting to decrease or increase size, is lean muscle tissue. You naturally lose a pound of muscle every year after the age of 25. Not only do you have to work just for muscle maintenance, but you also need to obtain more lean muscle to reach "the look/size" that you want!
We would like to mention a few other challengers who gave Kate & Jennifer a run for the money.
In Group 1, the 1st runner up was Colleen Stone, with an extraordinary 5.4% loss in body fat, 11 lbs. gain in muscle mass, 12 lbs. loss in body fat, and 1 lb. loss in scale weight. Second runner up in Group 1 was Michael Keable with a 4.5% loss in body fat, 11 lb. lean muscle mass gain, 12 lb. fat mass loss, and a 1 lb. loss in scale weight. Finally, 3rd runner up was Kathleen Grigas, with a 4.3% loss in body fat, an 8 lb. gain in muscle mass, and a 7 lb. loss in fat mass.
In Group 2, the 1st runner up was Bridget Zarazee, with an excellent 4.6% loss in body fat, 2 lb. lean muscle mass gain, 8 lb. loss in fat mass, and a 6 lb. loss in scale weight. Second runner up was James Wilson, with a 2.6% loss in body fat, a 5 lb. loss in fat mass, and a 6 lb. loss in scale weight. Finally, 3rd runner up was Robin Marfurt, with a 4.2% loss in body fat, a 6lb. gain in lean muscle mass, a 9 lb. loss in fat mass, and a 3 lb. loss in scale weight.
We would just like to mention in Group 1, Julie Hutmacher, Silver McDonald, Elizabeth Karpf, and Maggie Lower made significant changes in their body composition.
- Julie with a 4.9% loss in body fat, a 6 lb. gain in lean muscle mass, and an 11 lb. loss in fat mass.
- Silver with a 4.2% loss in body fat, a 6 lb. gain in lean muscle mass, and an 11 lb. loss in fat mass.

- Maggie with a 2.8% loss in body fat, a 3 lb. gain in lean muscle mass, and a 9 lb. loss in fat mass.
Nice work ladies!
Group 2 had very close results, where there was less than a 1% difference between 5th and 7th place finishers. This means anyone of these challengers could have placed significantly higher by gaining just 1 or 2 additional pounds of lean muscle mass. The results for these people were as follows:
- Tara Murley with a 2.8% loss in body fat, a 6 lb. gain in lean muscle mass, and a 4 lb. loss in fat mass.
- Kim Grill with a 3% loss in body fat, a 4 lb. gain in lean muscle mass, and a 6 lb. loss in fat mass.
- Colleen Gill with a 3.4% loss in body fat, and a 5 lb. loss in fat mass.
- Christine Gazda with a 4% loss in body fat, and a 7 lb. loss in fat mass.
You 4 girls, combined, loss of 13.2% BODY FAT (22 pounds). Great job girls!
The runners up will be receiving a free session, and of course, Jennifer will receive 2 free weeks of training and Kate will receive 1 month of training!
We as the staff have tracked your progress and made notes to make the next challenge even more successful.
Nice job Challengers,
